Indian Style Green Peas Flattened Rice Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Green Peas
    Poha (flattened rice)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small potato, diced
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the Green Peas Poha under cold water until it becomes soft. Drain the water and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida, then saute for a few seconds.
  4. Add chopped onions, green chili, and diced potatoes. Saute until the onions turn translucent and potatoes are cooked through.
  5. Sprinkle turmeric powder and salt over the mixture, then mix well.
  6. Add the rinsed Green Peas Flattened Rice to the pan and gently mix everything together until well combined.
  7. Cover the pan and let the Green Peas Flattened Rice cook for 2-3 minutes on low heat.
  8. Remove the lid, give it a gentle stir, and cook for another minute.
  9. Turn off the heat and garnish with fresh cilantro leaves.
  10. Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.
