Delicious Homemade Milk Kheer: Enjoy it Yourself, Treat Your Loved Ones
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup rice
- 1 litre milk
- 1/2 cup sugar (or to taste)
- 4-5 saffron strands (optional)
- 4-5 small cardamom pods
- 2 tablespoons almonds, cashews, and raisins (chopped)
- 1 teaspoon ghee
Milk Kheer Recipe (Dudh Ki Kheer)
Method:
- Firstly, rinse the rice thoroughly and set it aside.
- Heat ghee in a pot and add the rice. Lightly roast the rice until it turns golden brown, ensuring it doesn’t burn.
- In another pot, heat the milk. Once the milk is hot, add the roasted rice.
- Let the milk and rice simmer on low heat. Stir constantly with a spoon to prevent the milk from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
- After the milk and rice have cooked, add sugar and cardamom. If using saffron, soak it in the milk before adding.
- Continue to simmer the mixture on low heat, stirring regularly. Make sure the kheer thickens to a desired consistency.
- When the kheer reaches the desired consistency and the rice is well-cooked, add chopped almonds, cashews, and raisins.
- Cook for a few more minutes and then turn off the heat.
- Serve the kheer cold. Optionally, garnish with a few saffron strands or chopped almonds before serving.
Enjoy your delicious milk kheer!
