The year is 2023. Three friends, Ashley, Sherry, and Stephanie, are driving across the desert to pick up their friend Sabrina in Colorado. Along the way, they pick up a hitchhiker named Rusty, who turns out to be a sadistic trucker who begins to terrorize them.

Rusty starts by following them in his truck and flashing his headlights at them. Then, he starts calling them on their car phone and threatening them. He tells them that he knows where they are and that he’s going to kill them.

Ashley, Sherry, and Stephanie are scared, but they try to stay calm. They call the police, but the police can’t seem to find Rusty. He’s always one step ahead of them.

As the film progresses, Rusty’s threats become more and more serious. He starts to damage their car and even tries to run them off the road. Ashley, Sherry, and Stephanie are starting to lose hope. They don’t know how to stop Rusty or how to escape him.

In the end, Ashley, Sherry, and Stephanie are able to outsmart Rusty and escape him. However, the experience has left them traumatized. They’re no longer the same people they were before they met Rusty.

The remake of Joy Ride will be a more female-driven film than the original. The three friends will be played by Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Stephanie Hsu, and Sabrina Wu. The film will also be directed by a woman, Sophia Takal.
