  • 500g strong bread flour
  • 10g salt
  • 7g instant yeast
  • 320ml lukewarm water

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast.
  2. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the lukewarm water.
  3. Mix everything together until a rough dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F) and place a baking tray or pizza stone in the oven to preheat.
  7. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a loaf. Place the loaf onto a parchment-lined baking tray or a floured peel if using a pizza stone.
  8. Slash the top of the loaf with a sharp knife, then place it in the preheated oven.
  9. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Butter:

Ingredients:

  • Heavy cream

Instructions:

  1. Pour the heavy cream into a clean, dry mixing bowl.
  2. Using an electric mixer or a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, whip the cream on medium-high speed.
  3. Continue whipping until the cream thickens and forms soft peaks.
  4. Keep whipping until the cream separates into butterfat and buttermilk. This process can take several minutes.
  5. Once the butterfat has formed and is separated from the buttermilk, stop whipping.
  6. Use a spatula to transfer the butterfat to a clean bowl, leaving behind the buttermilk.
  7. Rinse the butterfat under cold water, kneading it gently to remove any remaining buttermilk.
  8. Once the water runs clear, pat the butter dry with paper towels and shape it into a desired form, such as a block or log.
  9. Your homemade butter is ready to be sliced and enjoyed on freshly baked bread!
