Continuing their momentum, Duke faced off against No. 9 Virginia and secured a thrilling 9-4 victory in the series opener, thanks in part to an outstanding performance by junior left-hander Jonathan Santucci. Although they faced a setback in the second game of the series, Duke bounced back with resilience, staging an impressive five-run comeback in the seventh inning to clinch the series win against the Cavaliers.
Duke’s stellar performance hasn’t gone unnoticed, as they’ve also been recognized as the No. 9 team in the nation by Baseball America and the No. 7 team by Perfect Game.
Looking ahead, Duke will hit the road to face Liberty in Lynchburg, Virginia, for a midweek showdown before returning home to Jack Coombs Field to host Miami for ACC play. With their recent successes and strong lineup, Duke baseball continues to captivate fans and demonstrate their prowess on the diamond, making waves in the college baseball landscape.
