Marilyn Manson Appeals Dismissed Claims in Defamation Lawsuit Against Evan Rachel Wood

Los Angeles, California : Marilyn Manson has appealed a judge’s decision that dismissed parts of his defamation and emotional distress lawsuit against Evan Rachel Wood and artist Illma Gore. Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, filed the 92-page appeal in Los Angeles on Tuesday. This follows his original lawsuit from March 2022, where he accused Wood and Gore of intentionally causing him emotional harm and defaming him. Wood had publicly named Warner as her abuser in February 2021, and several other women have since made similar abuse claims against him, which he denies.

Last year, a judge dismissed many of Manson’s claims against Wood and Gore and ordered him to pay nearly $500,000 in attorney fees. Manson is now challenging this decision, arguing that Wood and Gore made false accusations against him by spreading lies, hacking his accounts, and even forging documents.

His lawyers presented a letter they claim is a fake FBI document, which they allege was used to falsely suggest that Warner was under federal investigation. They believe this letter was part of a scheme to encourage others to accuse Warner of abuse.

Wood’s lawyer, Michael Kump, responded by saying that Manson’s appeal is just a repetition of claims already dismissed by the court and that Wood did not forge the FBI letter. Despite the appeal, parts of Manson’s lawsuit related to hacking and impersonation are still set to go to trial.
