Health Warning Issued for Popular Cork and Clare Beaches

County Clare :  Authorities are cautioning beachgoers to avoid swimming at Warren Beach in Rosscarbery, Co Cork, and Lahinch Beach in Co Clare due to recent storm-induced water contamination. Following consultations with the Health Service Executive (HSE), Cork County Council and Clare County Council have issued precautionary advisories against swimming, citing elevated bacteria levels as the primary concern.

At Warren Beach, Cork County Council has initiated a series of microbiological tests to assess water quality after recent local storms, urging the public to refrain from swimming until results confirm safe conditions. Meanwhile, Clare County Council has already detected elevated bacteria at Lahinch Beach, prompting the immediate issuance of an advisory notice.

Lifeguards at Lahinch are flying yellow flags, indicating the presence of lifeguards but unsuitable swimming conditions.

While these advisories are precautionary, they highlight the potential health risks associated with swimming in contaminated waters. Beachgoers are advised to heed these warnings and stay informed as further updates are expected in the coming days.
